We’ve got our eyes set on songstress Judith Hill. You may recognize her from season four of “The Voice” but she’s way more than just a contestant on a talent competition. After being endorsed by some of the greatest artists of all time including Elton John, Stevie Wonder and the “King of Pop”, Michael Jackson, Judith is definitely a woman on the rise. It’s always in our best interest to jump on the new artist bandwagon before they reach superstar status and we’re here to help you out with just that! Here are five reasons you should pay attention to Judith Hill. Trust us, pretty soon, you’ll be seeing her everywhere!

She Was Born Into A Musical Family

What were you doing at four years old? Playing with Barbies? Building sandcastles? Spending your afternoons catching up on Nick Jr.? Not Judith Hill. While most of us were busy learning the difference between red and blue, Judith Hill had already penned her first song. This came at no surprise to her family as they were quite the musicians themselves. Her father is a funk bassist known for his work with Bob Dylan and Sly Stone while her mother is a keyboardist who’s worked with Chaka Khan, Billy Preston and more. Judith’s family also owned a recording studio which doubled as Judith’s playground. Growing up with so much music around her, Judith was destined for greatness in the music industry from the very start.

She Was Chosen To Sing Backup For Michael Jackson

After Judith left college, she spent a year in Paris and sang background for a French singer. She later got word that Michael Jackson was looking for background singers for his “This Is It” tour. Judith auditioned and landed the role! Not only was she chosen as a background singer for the tour, she was also chosen to sing a duet with the King of Pop on the ballad, “I Just Can’t Stop Loving You”, which later became the highlight of the “This Is It” film.

After Michael Jackson’s passing in 2009, Judith was chosen to sing at his memorial service in his honor. Although the world was in mourning, Judith Hill’s career was simply just beginning as she was starting to gain recognition amongst the greats.

She Participated In The Voice’s “Best Battle”

As a contestant on “The Voice,” Judith Hill amazed audiences with her unique sound. When she sang, “What A Girl Wants” for the judges, she instantly became a favorite as they all simultaneously pressed their “I Want You” buttons. During the battle round, however, Hill was surprisingly eliminated from the competition after her “Top 8″ performance. Although she was eliminated from the competition, her performances go down as one of the best voice battles in “The Voice” history.
