Sometimes planning travel can be overwhelming and infuriating. When trying to plan multi-week trips I tend to get in a little over my head. I mean, c’mon, keeping track of rules, hotels, flights and trains can be a bit much!

Sometimes the best consultant for you is the one that is an expert in the location you want to travel to. First-hand knowledge and experience can elevate and personalize your trip. especially for off the beaten path destinations or experiences. A specialist will know the hidden gems and must sees and do’s for even the most discerning traveler.

4. Ask Questions

An online search can help lead you to local travel agencies or virtual agencies. For some people, it is important to be able to sit in front of the person planning their vacation and for other its not. This is a personal choice. No matter what your preference, take the time to know what is important to you and ask your consultant a few questions about what their services include–after hours assistance, planning fees, what business hours they work?

5. Compare The Perks 

Find out what benefits your agency or consultant is able to offer you. Some agencies are able to offer benefits that others can not. For example, American Express Consortia members are able to offer special travel benefits for American Express cardholders, such as room upgrades or the ability to purchase travel with your earned reward points.
