Macklemore Texted Kendrick Lamar After The Grammys

When Macklemore’s album “The Heist” was placed in the same category as Kendrick Lamar’s “good kid, m.A.A.d city” for ”Best Rap Album,” fans and critics thought it was unfair, because of Macklemore’s mainstream success. Last night at the 2014 Grammys, the expected happened and Macklemore beat out Kendrick in an upsetting win that sparked a response from Black Twitter.

Even Macklemore, who picked up four gramophones during music’s biggest night, couldn’t deny that Kendrick was “robbed” and deserved to win, in that category at least. After accepting the award, Macklemore texted Kendrick. He shared the messages for everyone to read:

You got robbed. I wanted you to win. You should have. It’s weird and sucks that I robbed you. I was going to say that during the speech. Then the music started playing and I froze. Anyway, you know what it is. Congrats on this year and your music. Appreciate you as an artist and a friend. Much love.

Macklemore posted the text with this caption:

My text to Kendrick after the show. He deserved best rap album… I’m honored and completely blown away to win anything much less 4 Grammys. But in that category, he should have won IMO. And that’s taking nothing away from The Heist. Just giving GKMC it’s proper respect.. With that being said, thank you to the fans. You’re the reason we were on that stage tonight. And to play Same Love on that platform was a career highlight. The greatest honor of all. That’s what this is about. Progress and art. Thank you. #grammys

We sorta wish he would have said this on stage despite the “wrap it up” music. Still, very noble on his behalf.

Swizz Beatz Congratulates Alicia Key On Instagram

While celebs were ushered into the Staples Center last night via a plush red carpet, the Grammys had already awarded Alicia Keys with the honor of “Best R&B Album” for her disc “Girl On Fire.” Hubby Swizz Beatz took to Instagram to salute his wife on her 15th Grammy win. He posted a photo of Keys in her blue gown, with the caption “Wheewwwwww congrats baby 15 Grammys and counting”

Alicia looked great on the red carpet, from the neck down but she really has to do something with that hair. Seriously.

Imagine being at your wedding and looking beside you and seeing your life partner then looking back up and seeing Queen Latifah and Madonna. Well that’s what happened last night for 34 lucky couples who were married during Macklemore’s performance at the Grammys. Queen Latifah officiated the mass ceremony as the couples walked down the Grammy aisle with celebs like Beyonce and Jay Z watching on.

New Details Arise In Apollo Nida’s Arrest

We don’t think Phaedra’s going to be able to get her husband Apollo out of this one!

Apollo Nida was arrested this weekend for bank fraud and identity theft. New details have risen in the arrest. In an affidavit, that detail his offenses, Apollo is accused of: creating fake companies, “enabling him to access databases to find individuals to rip off. He opened fake bank accounts under those real names and funneled stolen U.S. Treasury checks and auto loan proceeds into those accounts,” reports Access Atlanta.

“He opened fake bank accounts under those real names and funneled stolen U.S. Treasury checks and auto loan proceeds into those accounts,” said Alexandre Herrera, a U.S. Secret Service Agent in the Counterfeit and U.S. Treasury Check Squad.

He also opened a fake auto dealership (such as Ferrari Autohaus) and apply for auto loans in the names of stolen identities. After the arrest, the agents had St. Julien tape record conversations with Nida in which he explained many of his schemes. At one point, they obtained a federal search warrant of Nida’s vehicle and seized evidence, including a bank debit card in the name of Ferrari Autohaus Inc., cell phones and a laptop computer.

Nida was named by his alleged co-conspirator, Gayla St. Julien. If you don’t watch “The Real Housewives Of Atlanta” then you may not be aware that Apollo served 5 years in prison for auto title fraud in 2004-2009.

We recently spoke to Apollo, who defended his wife calling Chuck Smith a “chump” for talking to her the way he did. We hope everything works out for Apollo.

Rihanna was spotted at plenty of pre-Grammy festivities, like the annual Roc Nation Brunch, but not at the actual show and fans are wondering why? Ri Ri picked up a Grammy for “Best Contemporary Album” for her hot disc “Unapologetic” but didn’t attend the coveted award show. instead she tweeted her response after being tweeted by The Grammys. “$weet $urprise, pretty phucking rad! Thank you,” she wrote.

Maybe she just wasn’t feeling it…
