Here’s a big reality check to anyone who thought awards season was over — it never ends! The 2014 MTV Movie Awards kicked off with Hollywood’s biggest and brightest stars and host Conan O’Brien at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles tonight. This year’s golden popcorn celebration — which honored blockbusters, tween flicks and categories like “Best Kiss” and “Best Shirtless Performance” — saw the revenge of Jennifer Lawrence and Rihanna as the queen of the red carpet and stage.

The top prize of the evening went to The Hunger Games: Catching Fire. The action flick won Movie of the Year and star J.Law finally won over her award season rival, 12 Years A Slave’s Lupita Nyong’o. Lawrence also graced the stage to accept the award for Best Female Performance.
Rihanna took home a pre-show honor for best cameo performance in the comedy This is the End. She kept it extra sexy on the red carpet in a white satin bustier and robe from the Ulyana Sergeenk Couture SS2014 collection. Her highlight moment during the ceremony was a performance of mega-hit “Monster” with longtime collaborator Eminem.

Other big winners of the night included Jonah Hill for Best comedic performance in The Wolf of Wall Street, Vin Diesel and Paul Walker for Best on-screen duo in Fast & Furious 6, and Jared Leto for best on-screen transformation in Dallas Buyers Club. His rumored-girlfriend Lupita Nyong’o presented the award. “A year ago nobody knew my name,” the actress joked. “Now no one can pronounce my name.” During Leto’s acceptance speech, he furthered their on-going romance speculation by saying, “It’s an award in itself to get that from her.”
