15-year-old Isiah Joseph out of the Flatlands neighborhood in Brooklyn was shot in the back in broad daylight around 1:00PM on Sunday while another young man was hit in the hip and backside. Authorities are claiming it might have been a gang-related situation, as Joseph and the injured man were seen arguing with three men and one of them pulled the trigger at the victims.

The shooting happened on Avenue H and East 56th Street. After the incident, the shooters casually ran off, which was caught on a nearby surveillance camera. Joseph and his companion were taken to Brookdale University Hospital and Medical Center and while the 20-year-old remains in stable condition, Joseph was pronounced dead on arrival.
It hasn’t been disclosed from the NYPD yet on why they believed it was gang-related, but one neighbor who held her name from the New York Times shared that while the area has experienced violence before, it’s still a quiet neighborhood for the most part. A cousin of Joseph, was also wary of giving his name said that he had left home on his bicycle to go see a friend nearby. “Now we have to bury a baby,” the cousin told the NYT.
This unfortunate matter didn’t have to end the way it did. The assailants are currently on the loose, with authorities still investigating.
