Doctors Are Outraged After A Patient Was Shot By Police On Hospital Grounds
In the video above, Alan Christopher Pean, a 26-year-old patient who turned himself in at Houston’s St. Joseph’s Medical Center for an anxiety attack, is thanking his supporters for the care he has received after being shot in the chest by security guard O. Ortega.
Pean, Ortega, and another guard, R. The office’s work is in desperate need; figures from the Women of Color Network show that 40 percent of Black women report being sexually abused by the age of 18. Still, it’s widely known that in reality, even more women are abused than that because rape and sexual assault is grossly underreported across socioeconomic groups. Read more at The Huffington Post.
