Candidates for Atlanta mayor enter the race
Four people have paid the $5,500 to qualify to run to be the next Mayor of Atlanta, Keisha Lance Bottoms, Ceasar Mitchell, Kwanza Hall and Mary Norwood qualified yesterday and as many as 19 can qualify by the deadline on Friday August 25, 2017.
Colin Kaepernick supporters to protest outside NFL headquarters
Colin Kaepernick was highly criticized last year for taking a knee during the National Anthem and protest of police shootings and this year no team has hired him. There are major protests planned today to support former 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick. Protests are planned today outside the NFL headquarters in NY, in Atlanta and other major cities. There will be a couple of rallies in Atlanta, one is at 5 p.m. at the College Football Hall of Fame the other is at 6:30 p.m. at Morris Brown College.
Peachtree-Pine homeless shelter to close
300 homeless people will have to begin the transition of moving out of Atlanta’s Peachtree Pine Homeless Shelter. The shelter is in councilman Kwanza Hall’s district. Next week, counselors will come in and in the next 45 days find other housing for the residents.
