Still recovering from the effects of Hurricane Helene, these 84 Georgia counties can now use their SNAP benefits to buy hot foods until November 7. According to the USDA they’re also “ready to consider additional waivers that may be needed to help program participants who have lost food due to the disaster and to simplify the application process for affected households, upon request from the Georgia Department of Human Services.

According to WSB-TV:

“SNAP beneficiaries in 84 Georgia counties can now use their benefits to buy hot foods until Nov. 7. The USDA said the waiver was important because many Georgia residents who evacuated to shelters cannot store food and lack access to facilities needed to cook their own food.”
