Exclusive: Enrique Holmes On the Importance of Waiting on God’s Timing
Enrique Holmes is beaming with confidence in the Lord. The rising Gospel artist is putting his faith-filled foot forward with his latest album “You’re Gonna See It.” In an exclusive sit-down with Elev8 correspondent Jeff Lewis, he said creating the album was a two year process.
“It’s absolutely insane that two years ago I recorded this album and I went through just difficulties in my personal life,” Holmes said. “And to see that two years later God is just showing me that it was all worth it.”
The album is resonating with audiences. It peaked at no. 6 on the iTunes charts and landed in the top 10 at no. 8 on Billboard’s Top Gospel Albums chart. This isn’t Holmes first rodeo. He released his first album “Try Again” in 2018. He felt this time, the Lord wanted him to go in a different direction and there was another level he could go to. His ability to hear God allowed him to push out this project.
“When you literally give your life to God, what might be excellent to others might not be the level that you’re on,” he said. “Your level of excellence will often times be determined by your level of exposure.”
While achieving excellence in the Lord was of importance, so was waiting on him to make any moves. He describes that experience in “Worth the Wait” saying it was a prophetic flow. He wasn’t going to move until he sees he presence of God.
“Waiting is so weird and tough because it’s like I know what I want,” he said. “I know that God has for me but then I’m waiting on it. So, it’s like I’m contemplating is it going to happen and then I start comparing myself to people that their wait wasn’t as long as mine. So, now I’m getting involved trying to speed up the process. I’m getting in God’s way so ultimately I’m delaying it even more. Waiting can really change your heart if you let it.”
