City of Stockbridge Honors The Late Angie Stone With Proclamation

The city of Stockbridge has paid tribute to late soul singer and longtime resident, Angie Stone, following her death on March 1.
As reported by FOX 5 Atlanta, the Stockbridge City Council paid tribute to the singer during its meeting on Monday night. Councilmember Anthony Ford read the proclamation, which recognized the singer/songwriter’s accomplishments and awards.
Stone was a resident of Stockbridge at the time of her passing and performed in the city numerous times, including a performance at the Vystar Amphitheater for the Chris Tucker Foundation last summer.
In part, the proclamation reads, “We are all shocked and saddened by the loss of Angie Stone, but, with deep gratitude, we have wonderful memories as she leaves us with a legacy of great music.”
The proclamation was presented to one of Stone’s family members.

As previously reported, Stone and her band were traveling to the CIAA basketball tournament in Baltimore when the crash occurred around 4 am on Saturday. According to the Associated Press, the Alabama Highway Patrol said in a news release that the 2021 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter van turned over on Interstate 65 before being hit by a 2021 Freightliner Cascadia truck driven by a 33-year-old man from Texas.
Stone was the only fatality in the crash, dying at the scene. She was 63.
