More than a year after CNN moved out of its former headquarters in Downtown Atlanta, we now have an idea of what’s next for the building.

As reported by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, real estate firm CP Group unveiled plans to redevelop the building into “The Center,” a mixed-use destination for shopping, dining, and media production. A “confidential, high-end” restaurant is already planning to use 10,000 sq. feet of retail space.

One restaurant already taking space at “The Center” is McCormick & Schmick’s, an upscale steak and seafood chain based in Houston.

Tuesday’s announcement (Mar. 11) also included details about partnerships with Savannah College of Art and Design and local art/cultural consultants Neda Abghari and Bem Joiner. Abghari is the founder of the Creative Project, an affordable housing initiative for Atlanta artists, while Joiner is the founder of Atlanta Influences Everything.

CNN officially relocated its operations in 2023 to the Turner Techwood campus in Midtown, where media tycoon Ted Turner founded the network in 1980.

At press time, no timeline has been announced for the project’s completion.
