If you live in Fulton County and are seeking a legal fresh start, your next opportunity to do so comes on Saturday, April 5.

Fulton County Solicitor Keith Gammage, in collaboration with Ambassador Andrew Young, will be hosting the I Have A Dream Record Restriction/Expungement Event at the Truist/Andrew & Walter Young Family At-Promise Center at 2220B Campbellton Road SW in Atlanta. Between 11 am and 2 pm on Saturday, individuals will have the chance to clear eligible criminal records.

This event, named after Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s iconic speech, is part of an ongoing effort to help people rebuild their lives through record restriction services, increasing opportunities for better housing, employment, and economic stability.

In a statement to the Fulton Neighbor, Gammage spoke more about the event:

“Our expungement efforts align with Dr. King’s vision of freedom, justice, and economic empowerment — ensuring that every individual, regardless of past mistakes, has an opportunity to contribute meaningfully to society and achieve the American Dream. These efforts are most successful when we work together to advance our communities. By providing access to restorative justice, we offer individuals a chance to rebuild their lives and contribute positively to society, and I believe that to be in line with the charge that was left by (Dr. King).”

The event is made possible through partnerships with the Atlanta North Georgia Labor Council, Georgia Justice Project, Gate City Bar Association, and the City of Atlanta Department of Labor and Employment Services.

Pre-registration for the event is full, but walk-ins are welcome.
