This holiday season, some major retailers may be taking a little extra money out of your pocket. Several popular stores have updated their return policies and now charge return or restocking fees on online returns.

Here’s what shoppers can expect:

• T.J. Maxx: $11.99
• Macy’s: $9.99
• JCPenney: $8
• J. Crew: $7.50

How to avoid the fees:
Many of these retailers will waive the return fee if you return items in-store. In some cases, joining the store’s loyalty or rewards program can also help you skip the extra charge.
